National Junior Honor Society

Students at Brookpark Middle School have the opportunity to be selected for a very prestigious academic organization, the National Junior Honor Society. The society requires a high level of scholarship, character, service, citizenship and leadership from its members. It is important that the students who are interested in being inducted are aware of the requirements for membership.

Below is the criteria that must be met by a student before he/she is invited to join:

1. GPA of 3.75 or higher

2. No school discipline

3. At least 10 hours of community service (church service activity, Make a Difference Club, Student Council, Grove City Parks & Recreation, VIP program, Boy/Girl Scout service projects, Mid-Ohio Food Bank, GC Food Pantry, etc.). The adviser of the service group must indicate the organization name, number of community service hours, a brief description of the service, and a signature. Community service hours can be obtained from more than one organization.

4. All teachers a student has had during the academic year must agree that the student shows leadership, character, and classroom citizenship on a daily basis. This will be accomplished by teacher signature.

At the end of the 1st semester, students who have a GPA of 3.75 and no discipline are given the application form. They have approximately four (4) weeks to complete numbers 3 and 4 listed above. There will be no applications accepted after the given deadline.

If students have met the four requirements and turned in the application form on time, an official invitation letter is sent to the home. Students invited to be inducted must attend the induction ceremony as this is part of the membership requirement. The ceremony typically takes place around the middle of March.
